O.C.I.A for Adults: The inquiry is an opportunity for adults who are discerning about entering the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) in the fall to come together to hear about the process and spend time discerning if this is the step for them now. Inquiry takes place in the summertime, once a month. If you are interested in exploring and/or joining the Catholic Church, please call the Office of Faith Formation, 281-778-0400.
If you are an Adult and are interested in joining OCIA, please complete the form HERE
O.C.I.A. for Children is the process by which the Catholic Church initiates children over the age of 7, who are not baptized, or who were baptized in another Christian tradition. It is a process of growing in faith, knowledge and understanding of Jesus Christ as lived and celebrated in the Roman Catholic Church. The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston requires children to attend two years of sacramental preparation, with the first year being a foundational year. The second year will be focused on the Sacraments. At the end of the second year children receive the Sacraments of Initiation during the Easter Vigil. It is necessary to enroll children in regular age-appropriate Faith Formation Classes in addition to O.C.IA. for Children. For further information, please call Stacy Pavlik at 281-778-0400.

St. Angela Merici Catholic Church has implemented a 2-year process to prepare candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation. In accordance with Archdiocesan guidelines, candidates who request Confirmation at St. Angela Merici must have at least one year prior preparation in Life Teen, CCE, or Catholic school and then complete a year of immediate preparation before receiving the sacrament. His Eminence, Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, has mandated the age of 16 as the minimum age for reception of the sacrament; thus, the Sacrament of Confirmation is offered at St. Angela Merici beginning in the 10th grade school year.
Please contact Merrie Guerra @ [email protected] or click HERE for more information.
The baptism process below is for newborns through children age 7. Prior to the Baptism, both parents are required to attend a baptism class if they have never attended or it has more than three years since their last attendance. Godparents, taking on an important role of the child to be baptized, should be highly encouraged to also attend. For more information, please see HERE.
