We felt it appropriate to change the theme of the retreat to relate to our extraordinary times. This retreat will take them through a Scripture verse from the Gospel of Matthew that talks about the importance of building a house upon rock rather than on sand. The youth will learn that this Scripture story is an analogy of our lives and the importance of building the foundation of our lives in Jesus Christ. He IS the firm rock, upon which they will grow strong! He IS the foundation that supports us in ALL of life’s “storms”.
My hope is this theme will help your teen thru the sufferings of not only today, but life to come.
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it.” (Matthew 7:24-27)
