Sacrament Preparation

Before a child can be registered for their First Sacraments or Confirmation, we must ensure they meet the guidelines set by the Archdiocese. If you have a child that you want to receive a sacrament this year, please review the requirements listed below carefully. First Sacraments (First Reconciliation and First Eucharist) Preparation Requirements

• Children in 2^nd grade are eligible for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.  Even though the formal preparation program is part of the 2^nd grade curriculum,    3rd - 5th graders (who have already been baptized) are eligible to receive these sacraments and attend their grade level class.
• Students preparing for their First Reconciliation and First Eucharist, at a minimum, must have regularly attended Catholic Faith Formation classes the year prior to their sacrament year (this could be through a parish Faith Formation program or Catholic school). Attendance at Faith Formation classes during their year of preparation is also required and monitored.
• All Students who are entering a sacramental preparation year; First Reconciliation or First Eucharist must submit a copy of their Baptismal Certificate or Profession of Faith Certificate to the Faith Formation Office by November 1, 2020.

 *Home Study -  While the Archdiocese doesn't recommend Home Study for sacramental preparation, an assessment will be made case by case according to the needs of each family and according to CDC social distancing. • Children in 10^th-12^th grade are eligible for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
• Students preparing for their Confirmation, at a minimum, must have regularly attended Catholic Faith Formation classes the year prior to their sacrament year (this could be through a parish Faith Formation program or Catholic school). Attendance at Faith Formation classes during their year of preparation is also required and monitored.
• All Confirmation students must submit a copy of the both the front and back of their updated Baptismal Certificate. Please turn this document in by November 1, 2020 to the parish office.
